The Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering is established in the year 2005 with 60 students at the entry level. The Department started a PG(Power Electronics and Drives) programme in 2013 and is also recognized by Anna University. The department is equipped with the state of the art equipment’s and also includes well developed laboratories in the related fields.


This department has a set of dedicated, talented, well qualified and experienced team as teaching faculty. All the faculty members are postgraduates with considerable research and academic experience. The department also has qualified and dedicated supporting staff for our laboratories for students. Various personality development programmes for facing interviews and to develop their communication skills. Periodic industrial visits are arranged to various concerns together practical knowledge in various newly emerging areas. Inplant training and projects undergone by the students in various industries.

The laboratory has D.C. Motors and Generators, 3 Ph. Induction Motors, (Squirrel cage and slipring type), 3 Ph. Synchronous machines, Single phase & 3 Ph. Transformers, 1 Ph. Induction Motors (Various types), associated with well designed panels and informative displays. The Machines laboratory is supported with large capacity three phase A.C. to D.C. rectifier unit to supply D.C. power. The machines laboratory is well equipped with all kinds of measuring instruments.
The laboratory is equipped with the electrical machine trainers on which students are able to observe and understand the practical aspects of several AC/DC motors and generators.



The Control Laboratory caters to the needs of UG, PG students working in the areas of linear, non-linear and digital control systems, robotics, networks and low frequency data acquisition and processing. MATLAB 7.0 platform is also available for simulation of systems.




Power electronics lab is the hardware laboratory can Support several experiments on Thyristor Commutation Techniques, Controlled Rectifiers, AC Voltage Controllers, Closed-loop control of DC drives, DC Choppers etc. The software laboratory explores the theory, development and analysis of Power Electronics systems and their applications in various domains. We guide our students on the path of becoming experts in the area of Power Electronics.


Students are given extensive training in 16 bit microprocessors and micro controllers in this laboratory. Individual attention is given to each student by providing each student with a separate micro processor. This gives each student tremendous knowledge to write the coding independently and to master the programming. Stepper Motor operation, Interfacing of various peripherals and the use of PC as a development tool helps the student carry out real time experiments.




Students are taught how to design and construct electronic building blocks using Integrated circuits. The experiments cover simple experiments to tough assignments in designing and testing linear integrated circuit circuits. Circuits like differentiator, integrator, low pass, band pass and high pass filter circuits, multivibrators, oscillators, PLL and SMPS are studied extensively both by simulation using L SIM and N SIM and p-SPICE software in the computer system as well as using the hardware.




Students learn the basics of electronics in this lab. They are taught how to check electrical and electronic components such as resistors, inductors, capacitors, transformers, diodes, transistors, JFET, UJT, SCT etc and find their characteristics. Amplifiers, Oscillators and their different configurations are constructed by the students and tested. Analog and digital electronic circuits are covered extensively using discrete components as well as Integrated Circuits. P-SPICE, L SIM and N SIM software are used for simulation training. This lab encourages students to construct various interesting and novel electronic circuits.




All the laboratories are equipped with the state of the art testing and measuring instruments. This includes CRO, Function Generator, Storage Oscilloscope, LCR Bridge, Decade Boxes and any more sophisticated equipments.
